Remembrance of Truth
In this unsteady age, poppies are a reminder of what we were taught when we were small--right from wrong, decency from degeneracy, humility over pride, kindness over selfishness. These values aren't gone, but they do feel overshadowed in our noisy culture of brash leaders and war-driven conflicts. Poppies are a reminder of the sacrifices our forebears made to give us the freedom, peace, technology, education, rights to worship and believe as we do today. These billowy scarlet blooms bring to mind the values our mothers, fathers, grandparents, and great-grandparents taught us in their examples, stories, sacrifices, and lived experience. They remind us that virtue, charity, and Someone greater than ourselves--our Creator above--gives us all.
