I carved these luna moths and printed them during the long months after the covid pandemic stretched indefinitely. Though the future of our world felt uncertain in many respects, I still felt the joy in watching my family hang out together at home. For the first time in what felt like ages, my husband had time to actually consider building a tree house in the woods with the kids. He worked from home for several weeks after the pandemic shut everything down, and those still weeks of slow life felt like bliss for me and my children as they sawed, hammered, and brought our woods to life with their calls, explorations, and sense of accomplishment in helping their dad. My hope was rising, hence the title of this piece.
