"Hey Emily, We got the painting today and it’s soooo cute in person!
Both my partner (Nathan) and I were like… Why does this make us so emotional? And then we realized it just captures Forrest so beautifully that we can’t help but feel *all the feelings* when we look at it. All that to say, WE LOVE IT.
As you’ll see below, Forrest loves it too. He even carried it in from the mailbox (his favorite job) :)

This is the piece I will never sell. After a fifteen year hiatus from painting to bring my kids into this world, this little watercolor was my scary foray back into "riding the bicycle of creating artwork again." All the kids were happily painting with their cousins around the kitchen table. The youngest, four years-old at the time, was equally busy with brushes and paper. Everyone was content. Could I actually sit down and paint for myself now? Were we to that point where there were no toddlers anymore--to smear their fingers across my canvas or wipe pigments in their hair? My hands shook with anticipation and worry that maybe I'd forgotten what to do.
So unannounced, I pulled out a sheet of watercolor paper for myself, opened up a set of paints, sat down next to the kids and their cousins, and worked as fast as I humanly could--before someone needed me to wipe up spilled milk or help mass-produce peanut butter sandwiches. And you know what? I hadn't forgotten how to paint! The result certainly wasn't perfect, but it WAS exhilarating! I was sailing with the wind in my hair again on that 10 speed of my youth of the painting high.. Once you learn to ride a bike, you always know how. It's just a matter of finding the time to do it. I'm finding more and more time to ride that "painting bicycle." And the joy is real.
